When it Comes to Water Filtration Systems, There Are Many Types to Choose FromBy Daniel Acker: Water filtration system has come a long way from what it used to be a decade ago. This is specifically due to the pollutants and contaminants present in our drinking water supplied to us by the public water systems. Adults and children were drinking water chock full of harmful chemicals which were making them sick. Water filtration is way of removing contaminants from the water before you drink or consume it. There are many manufacturers producing different filtration methods but remember the best filtration system is one that removes just the harmful substances while retaining all the essential minerals present in the water. Usually people keep pondering over what type of filtration system is the right one. In order to determine this, first figure out what you need the system for as you can get one for a shower, kitchen or the whole house. A home filter requires a professional to install it and it has its disadvantages as it uses the already existing pipes to transfer water to the taps and shower, which may contain contaminants so the entire filtration process could be in vain.
There are several different methods of water filtration and the most common ones are as follows: â?¢ Ion Exchange Distillation Reverse Osmosis Ultra Filtration â?¢ Photo Oxidation Ion Exchange: In this water filtration system, the water purifier uses ion exchange to purify the water. This is considered to be one of the most effective ways of filtering water in homes and is usually recommended for use in homes. Distillation: This method of water filtration collects condensed vapours of water after it is heated to boiling temperature. Although the method of purification is cheap, it requires you use a lot of electricity and cannot give you clean and purified water on demand. Reverse Osmosis: Many homes use reverse osmosis to purify water effectively. The water filter contains a semi-permeable membrane that helps in water filtration and you can get clean water whenever the need arises. Ultra Filtration: This water filtration system is similar to reverse osmosis but the pores of the semi-permeable membrane are much larger. The membrane pores measuring from 0.001 to 0.002 micron. Photo Oxidation: Here the water is purified using ultra-violet radiation which kills the harmful bacteria and micro-organisms present in the water. However, this method does not remove particles found in the water. This is an expensive method to purify water and usually found in industry rather than homes. Before purchasing a water filtration system for your home, make sure you do thorough research so that you choose the best system. It is rather tempting to go for cheap systems to save money but a water filter that costs slightly more will be less expensive and more effective in the long term. For those who feel that water contamination is not big issue, think back to the dry skin and hair you have each time you take a shower or bath. If your water is contaminated with particles and chemicals, it will hasten the aging process and you will be constantly prone to a lot of diseases and illnesses. Water contaminated with heavy metals and toxins if consumed over a long period of time, may cause a gradual build up of toxins which can lead to many diseases, some even life-threatening. That is why having an effective water filtration system is a must.
